HEALTHY HABITS

Today a large proportion of people in Sweden eat less fruit and vegetables than they need. (Source: Växtbaserat Sverige, an industry organisation for manufacturers of plant-based foods). We want to play our part in ensuring that more people eat more green and plant-based foods.

While what we eat is undoubtedly a key contributory factor to our health, an active lifestyle and physical activity also have a role to play. For this reason we work with a number of different types of sporting events with a wide public appeal.

We consider it to be particularly important – as well as a source of great satisfaction – to cultivate a positive attitude towards exercise among children and young people, and to encourage them to see fruit or vegetables as a natural component in any meal.

Helsingborgs Marathon

We are proud sponsors of the Helsingborg Marathon. Since its beginnings in 2014 this has grown to become one of Sweden’s major long-distance running events. BAMA is chief sponsor of the children’s own event, the BAMA Kids Run, that takes place along the city’s seaside promenade on what is the final stretch of the marathon.

VASALOPPET CROSS-COUNTRY SKI RACE

This classic Swedish long-distance ski race promotes values linked to sustainability, health and the environment that go hand in hand with our vision of a fresher and healthier future. We also see the Vasaloppet race as an opportunity to engage with our customers and suppliers, as well as with our own co-workers. Our collaboration as an official partner extends to both the winter week and the summer week, where competitors can take part in various mountain bike competitions and running races.

MORE PEOPLE ARE DEVELOPING A TASTE FOR PLANT-BASED FOODS

A survey has shown that 27 % of Swedes are eager to increase the share of plant-based food in their diet. (Source: ICA “Sälj mer vego” 2021/21). Health, the environment and animal ethics are the three most common reasons why Swedes are choosing to eat more vegetarian food. Some aim to replace all meat products on their plate, while others wish simply to increase their intake of fruit and vegetables.

We can make a difference in the protein shift and the transition to a healthier, more climate friendly food production industry. Here at BAMA we work with the firm focus of increasing the share of vegan products in our range.

Växtbaserat Sverige

We are part of Växtbaserat Sverige, a trade organisation whose aim and purpose is to promote the increased consumption and production of plant-based foods. You can read more about Växtbaserat Sverige and how we are well placed here in Sweden to take a world-leading role in the production of plant-based foods.

ENGAGING WITH THE WORLD

Sustainability work vividly illustrates just how closely interconnected everything is. The local and the global, the small details and the big picture, Sweden and the rest of the world. That’s why we are happy to be able to contribute to development projects that are helping to make life a little better for families who live in conditions far different from our own.

SOLVATTEN – A “SUNSHINE STORY” ABOUT CLEAN WATER

It’s easy for us to take clean water for granted, yet the fact is that billions of people elsewhere in the world have no access to safe drinking water. BAMA collaborates with Solvatten, a Swedish-based social enterprise whose innovative Solvatten system purifies water by eliminating harmful microorganisms – without chemicals, batteries or filters. All that is needed is sunlight and water. This technology for safe domestic water has already improved the lives of hundreds of thousands of people in countries such as Kenya, Uganda and some 40 others.
